Too many good choices

China is a big trip. It does not need to become a crowded one.

A first draft often grows quickly: another city, one more train, a hotel change that looks easy on a map. I help you work out what belongs together, what deserves more time and what is better saved for another trip.

One possible first journey

Three very different cities, without rushing between them.

This 14-day example gives Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai enough room to feel like places, not stops on a checklist. Other trips may stay within one region or follow a completely different route.

How a plan gets better

Sometimes the best change is taking one city out.

01 · Transfer load

Keep three cities and gain a calmer trip.

The four-city version required three long transfers and two early starts close together. Removing Chengdu gives the couple most of a day back, without making their first trip to China feel small.

02 · Where to stay

Choose a place that makes the rest of the day easier.

For this couple, a walkable neighborhood with dinner and coffee nearby matters more than sleeping beside one famous sight. The plan gives them a short list, with the differences in price, atmosphere and transport explained.

03 · What remains open

Do not book every hour.

The final evening has two nearby dinner ideas and an easy walk. They can decide after seeing the weather and finding out how much energy they have left.

Flexible choiceNo booking required

One well-paced day, shown through Beijing.

Beijing is one example of the planning approach: start with what needs a firm time, keep the day in one part of the city and leave a little room to change your mind.

Do the place that needs the most energy first

An early entry leaves enough time for the Forbidden City without checking the clock from the first courtyard.

Eat near where you are going next

Lunch sits between the morning visit and the afternoon area, rather than becoming another journey across the city.

Leave room for the neighborhood

Choose hutong streets, a park or a small museum according to your interests and how you feel that day.

Let the evening stay flexible

Keep two nearby dinner ideas and decide later, once you know the weather, your energy and what you are hungry for.
